Many of our nation's schools are not preparing adequately students to be active citizens. The Institute of Politics believes that an understanding of the workings of politics and government is a vital element of every young person's education and citizenry.
The National Campaign works with partners to bring civic education to younger students. Partnering schools in the National Campaign agree to develop a strategic plan to promote civic education in their communities' schools. Partners promote civic education in their states and as a member of the National Campaign on the national level. They also share best practices for promoting civic education through periodic meetings, trainings and workshops at the Institute of Politics; and
The Harvard CIVICS program brings students from Harvard College to middle and elementary schools in Cambridge and Boston. Harvard CIVICS teachers use an activity-based curriculum to teach their students the basics of American government and the role of active citizens.
