Speakers:
Anne-Marie Slaughter

Anne-Marie Slaughter, Bert G. Kerstetter '66 University Professor of Politics and International Affairs at Princeton University, presented the 2012 Richard S. Salant Lecture on Freedom of the Press. She addressed the relationship between open and closed governments, as well as the media and social organizations and asserted that the real divide between governments in the 21st century was not between democracies and non-democracies but between open and closed governments. Harvard Kennedy School Dean David Ellwood opened the program and Shorenstein Center Director Alex Jones introduced and moderated the event.
