The Joan Shorenstein Center on the Press, Politics and Public Policy presents the Goldsmith Book Prizes, Goldsmith Prize for Investigative Reporting, and the Goldsmith Career Award for Excellence in Journalism. Four Associated Press reporters were awarded the Prize for Investigative Reporting for a series of stories about the New York Police Department’s widespread surveillance of Muslims after the Sept. 11 terror attacks and Jeffrey E. Cohen and Evgeny Morozov receive the academic and trade book prizes, respectively. Following the awards, keynote presenter Alan Rusbridger speaks about his experiences as the editor of The Guardian as he accepts the Goldsmith Career Award for Excellence in Journalism.
