L. Craig Johnstone is an International Affairs Fellow with the Council on Foreign Relations. Mr. Johnstone began his career as a foreign service officer with the Department of State in 1966 as a Deputy Province Senior Advisor in Gia Dinh, Chau Doc Provinces. He then became a field evaluator in the Office of Civil Operation in Vietnam before becoming the Chief of the Evaluations Branch in the same office. In June 1968, Mr. Johnstone became Director of the Pacification Studies Group with the Military Assistance Command in Vietnam, where he served for two years.
