John A. Wilson

John A. Wilson is a Democratic member of the Council of the District of Columbia, representing Ward 2. He was elected to the first Home Rule City Council in 1974 and was re-elected in 1976, 1980, and 1984 and serves as Chair of the Committee on Finance and Revenue. Previously, Mr. Wilson worked for the National Sharecroppers Fund, first as Legislative Director and then as Associate Director. He was a member and co-chairman of the District of Columbia Democratic State Committee, and a delegate to the White House Conference on Food and Nutrition, the White House Conference on the Aged, and the White House Conference on Civil Rights. Mr. Wilson worked on the national staff of \McGovern for President\, as campaign manager for Congressman Walter Fauntroy, and assistant campaign manager for Paul O'Dwyer's U.S. Senate race. Mr. Wilson has lectured on numerous college campuses on civil rights issues while a member of the Student Non-Violent Coordinating Committee from 1962 to 1969.
