Jack Carlson will become Executive Director of the American Association of Retired Persons on October 17, 1987. He was formerly the Executive Officer of the National Association of Realtors and Vice President and Chief Economist of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. In 1976 he was a candidate for the U.S. Senate. Carlson has been appointed by both Republican and Democratic Presidents and Administrations during 20 years as a Member of the President's Commission on Employment & Unemployment Statistics, Assistant Secretary of the Interior, Assistant Director of the Office of Management & Budget, Senior Staff Economist with the President's Council of Economic Advisers, Assistant to the Secretary of the Air Force & Defense, Chairman of the United Nation's Senior Economic Advisers to the Economic Commission of Europe, and was a member of several U.S. delegations to the United Nations.
