Gloria Emerson is an awarding-winning journalist. Assigned by The New York Times to Vietnam from 1970 to the early months of 1972, Ms. Emerson is the 1971 George Polk Memorial Award for foreign reporting. She previously was assigned to the London and Paris new bureaus after beginning as a reporter on the woman's page in 1957. Ms. Emerson worked in Indochina as a freelance writer and student, and began her career in journalism at Promenade Magazine in 1950 before moving to The New York Journal-American in 1954.
