George Weeks

George Weeks is Executive Secretary (Chief of Staff) to Governor William Milliken of Michigan. He joined the Governor's staff in 1969 as Press Secretary, was appointed Special Counsel in 1974 and Executive Secretary in 1975. Before joining the Governor's staff, Mr. Weeks was Foreign Editor in the Washington Bureau of United Press International. He began his career at UPI in 1954 as a staff correspondent. He spent the next five years in Lansing, MI before becoming a diplomatic correspondent specializing in African Affairs for seven years. Mr. Weeks is a contributing author to \Handbook of African Affairs\ and is author of special issues of Africa Reportmagazine and of entire African section issues of Living History Yearbook.
