Charles \Chase\ Untermeyer is a Republican member of the Texas House of Representatives for the 83rd District, where he has served since 1976 and is the vice-chairman of the House Committee on Health services and a member of the Intergovernmental Affairs Committee. In addition, he is a freelance journalist, writing for Texas Monthlymagazine, In Between Magazine of Galveston, El Sol (a weekly newspaper for Houston's Hispanic community), and the Texas Observer. He is also the author of a book to be published at the end of April 1980 entitled the Houston Survival Handbook, a citizen's guide to getting action out of local government on over 200 problems in the Houston area. Previously, Mr. Untermeyer worked with Ambassador George Bush on his unpublished memoirs and was a staff assistant in the Bush for President campaign, working in Ambassador Bush's personal office in Houston.
