A Conversation with The Honorable Tarja Halonen

Former President of Finland Tarja Halonen joined Harvard Kennedy School Dean David Ellwood in conversation at the John F. Kennedy Jr. Forum. President Halonen discussed the history of Finland under her leadership along with her personal history, highlighting her campaign for human rights and social equality before shifting gears for a discussion on climate change and the environmental movement.  Finally, she spoke of the role of welfare in society, explaining her views on government spending and intervention in the economy and education.
