How do I request an absentee ballot?

Where do I send the request?
Send the request to the office of the registrar of voters in the local parish in which you are registered to vote. For a list of registrars, please visit this site.
You may mail your request by the U.S. Postal Service or a commercial service, but do not fax your request.
What is the deadline for requesting an absentee ballot?
Applications must be received in the registrar’s office between 60 days and 4 days before the close of polls on the Election Day for which the ballot is requested:
October 31 for the General Election
What is the voting procedure?
The voting procedure is explained on the ballot itself. Please note that the state will pay to send you your ballot, but you must pay for the return postage.
What are the deadlines for voting absentee?
All ballots, other than those for military and overseas residents must be received the day before Election Day:
General Election: November 3
What are the election dates and deadlines for 2008?
General Election: November 4
Voter registration closes 30 days prior to Election Day.
