Our program was successful again in 2009. Here are some testimonials from students about their experiences:
"CAC is a wonderful organization -- the most spirited of all IOP programs. It is great because its a wide-ranging experience -- CAC projects run the gamut : blood drives, voter registration, trips to service organizations and throwing big events. I came to CAC with an idea for a big event-- we discussed it and now we're working on making it happen. That's what's great about CAC -- its driven, focused and serious, but also flexible, fun and exciting. If you're going to do an IOP program -- do CAC!" -Peter Davis
"What I didn't expect when I began my experience with CAC was the enthusiasm of its members and its commitment to executing its many great ideas. I helped get walking routes for a voter registration drive we were organizing and was amazed at the support I got from the group leadership when I ran into some trouble tracking down the routes. My experience with CAC through this drive completely changed my views on community service - in transitioning from a participant to an organizer of community service events, I realized the difficulty of recruiting students for challenging projects, but I also learned strategies for overcoming those challenges. The value of CAC comes from its ability to provide group support for people interested in organizing community service projects while still allowing them to participate in the many events they organize." - Peter Bozzo
"Working the food bank was an experience I'm glad to have had through CAC. It was fun work with an amazing staff, and I enjoyed the company of both CAC members and participants I met from other IOP programs. The best part was knowing the numerical breakdown of our volunteer work that day, we had a great time while helping a lot of families put food on their tables." -Danella Debel
"CAC provided me the wonderful opportunity to contribute to Cradles to Crayons, an organization distributing clothes and school supplies to youth in need in the community. Donating an afternoon to assist Cradles to Crayons was an easy yet effective way to make an impact on dozens of children in the community. It was a rewarding experience and I'm grateful to CAC for organizing the event." - Hunter Richard
"CAC helped recruit volunteers for a Halloween Trick-or-Treat for canned food drive. Needless to say, it was a blast, and I even got a few of my friends to help out, too! Community Action is great at connecting students to fun and unique service opportunities at Harvard and beyond." - David Tao
